Praise the Lord all you His people!

"Praise the Lord, O Jerusalem! Praise your God, O Zion! For He has strengthened the bars of your gates; He has blessed your children within you." Psalm 147:12-13 NKJ

Well, to all those who do not know who this wonderful lady is; she is my Aunt Stacy, my mama's oldest sister! Here she is holding Lydia at little more then 3 weeks old. She doesn't need Lydia for much longer for very soon she'll be holding one of her own! Yes, my Aunt is pregnant with her third child and his due sometime in February. For all those reading there is some prayer requests also for this pregnancy:
1) My Aunt is diabetic so it makes this a high risk pregnancy. Pray that she will have no side effects and that everything will go as He has planned.
2) Pray for safety for my Aunt and the baby with her upcoming labor and delivery.
3) That the transition with a new baby in the house will go wonderfully smooth!
The Lord is so good!

Hannah's Birthday

"That our sons may be as plants grown up in their youth; that our daughters may be as pillars, sculptured in palace style." Psalm 144:12

On the 21st of June we celebrated Hannah's 14th birthday. Now, you may be wondering what this verse has to do with her birthday. "That our daughters may be as pillars, sculptured in palace style." What does that mean? Well, what does a pillar do? A pillar holds up structures of all sorts - in this verse a palace. Hannah is the firstborn and so her example is a very powerful one, either for good or for bad. What she does is copied by all those younger than her. Thankfully, Hannah has chosen to walk on the straight and narrow. Her godly, feminine example has been a beaming light in the darkness many times for people - even me! She is humble, always willing to help others, cooks and cleans, gives her youngest siblings baths, folds clothes and much more! I have gone to her often for advice on different things and I've always been encouraged in my walk with Jesus. Every night before falling asleep she asks "Any prayer requests?" showing that she is willing to pray for us when many people wouldn't. She doesn't scold anyone when they annoy her or bother her but takes it patiently. She is a pillar - someone who holds up this family. She can choose to go the world's way and have our "palace" (our home) crumble or she can choose Jesus' way and hold up our "palace" (house). The duty of a woman is truly made manifest in scripture (see 1 Timothy 1:9-15) and she strives to be the woman of a "gentle and quiet spirit, which is very precious in the sight of God," (1 Peter 3:5a). She holds this house up by staying at home and being a godly example to those around her. Without Hannah, this house would crumble! I could go on and on (As you have seen!) about her but I don't think the blog controls will allow me to go on much further! All of you who have met Hannah, know what a godly, young lady she is! Please write any testimony about her/her life in the comments area at the end of this post.

Anyways, I want to thank the DeLille's who let us borrow their pool for her party. Thanks! For some reason I can't get any pictures to upload but will try soon! I did get some videos to upload though (see post before this one)!

I've got to go make some bread! (By the way we're having homemade pizza for dinner with cherry jello, and chocolate cake with cool whip icing for dessert! Yummy! Our uncle, aunt and cousins - Cadence and Justus - are coming over for dinner and "To Train Up a Child" discussion!)

Any questions about anything I've posted can be asked at the "comments" area at the bottom of each post. Feel free to ask me - I like answering questions (not verbally though!)!

P.S - I thought a little color would be a good change!

Praise!

"You are welcome at my house," the old man said. "Let me supply whatever you need. Only don't spend the night in the square."
Judges 19:20
Even though it is an old man in the verse, interpret the old man to be Jesus so it will apply to my story below.
Just a real quick post:
We are making pizza today and I didn't know if we had any sauce in the cabinet and since I was waiting for the water to reach the right temperature I decided I was going to start looking. I sent up a real quick prayer "Lord, please let there be some sauce in the cabinet." And what do you know - there was! He answers prayer!

Okay, my last post!

"Know that the LORD, He is God; It is He who has made us, and not we ourselves; We are His people and the sheep of His pasture."
Psalm 100:3
This morning we went skating at the Ashland Skate Ring. Some friends from church were there also. On Thursday mornings homeschoolers get in for $1.00 instead of the normal $2-3 dollars. Lexi got to see Jamie (her friend) for the first time in a long time! They talked as long as they could. Lexi made this present (or should I say presents) for Jamie that she had been collecting for months.
Daddy is in Northern VA right now and I'm at my grandma's house taking care of my napping siblings (hard job!) while mommy is shopping and Hannah is out with Na-naw (my grandma) for her 14th birthday.
Thank you all for the nice comments you've been making about the blog!

Uptade on 'Question for YOU'

"Delight yourself in the Lord and He will give you the desires of your heart."
Psalm 37:4

I asked daddy last night as we were opening pistachio nuts if I should post once a week or as often as I can. He said that it's fine to post everyday but I should check with mommy first and ask if she had anything for me to do and if she didn't then ask if I could get on the internet. I"m going to keep his plan in mind. So, if I don't get to the blog know I'm helping mommy!

Question for YOU

"Now this is what the LORD Almighty says: 'Give careful thought to your ways.'"
Haggai 1:5

I have a dilemma. Mommy thinks I should update once a week instead of every day as I would prefer.
I forgot to list that another reason for starting this blog is for my children and my children's children (Jesus willing) to be able to come back to this blog and read about 'mamma when she was little,' 'uncle this,' 'aunt that' etc. It's kind of like a diary and I don't want to miss any silly incidents - as I would probably do if I updated once a week. I don't want to overload you with information so that you couldn't keep up with me.
After all that................
My question is: Should I update once a week or as often as I can?
Please reply in the "comments" section at the bottom of this post.

Thank you!

P.S - Doesn't it look like Lydia is in a dilemma?! :)

Eden and Curlers

"For You have formed my insward parts; You have covered me in my mother's womb. I will praise You, for I am fearfully and wonderfully made; marvelous are Your works, and that my soul knows very well."
Psalms 139:13-14

We (mommy, Hannah, Eden, Josiah & I) had just "rinsed off" after working in the garden. Eden and Josiah were - 0f course - a mess and so we took their clothes off, hosed them off and wrapped them up "like a hot dog." (Josiah likes it when I say that.) Their hair was wet as they had swum in our 'swimming pool' (aka - horse trough) so I had to do something with it. The result: Eden in curlers! I think she looks kinda' cute with her hair that way!

Steak & Enchiladas

"A time to weep, and a time to laugh;"

Ecclesiastes 3:4a

I was contemplating on what to make for lunch today. Seeking some advice I asked Eden and Josiah.

"Steak! No - enchiladas!" Eden said enthusiastically. Josiah chimed in "teak, no - enchiwadas!"

Sorry guys I can't just whip up steak and enchiladas in a couple of minutes!

We just returned from our cousins house. We (daddy, Hannah, Alexis, Caleb, Seth and I) went up to Northern VA so daddy could estimate a house. (I got about 2 hours of reading in!) Anyways, while we were up there we might as well do something with the cousins so we wouldn't waste gas. So after daddy estimating the house we went to their house (Woodbridge, VA) and helped (well, not really - there wasn't much for us to do) them pack up for their trip to "The Cabin." (A cabin in New Hampshire that my Aunt Amy's family owns. We've went there once) We played basketball after pizza and chicken from Papa John's and then we went to our grandparents house. Sadly, they weren't here but were out somewhere eating dinner and then a play. We watched the movie 'A Perfect Day' while eating popcorn.

P.S - Sorry I have no pictures!
"Like a gold ring in a pig's snout is a beautiful woman who shows no discretion."
Proverbs 11:22

She may look cute....

I was swinging on the hammock with Hannah and Lydia singing hymns and enjoying the cool night air. Daddy was cutting the lawn, everyone else (too many names to list!) was playing in different areas of the yard. Lydia was so cute sitting there that I couldn't resist picking her up. As I picked her up and lifted her up and down and over again she cooed, smiled and waved her arms franticly. Note: She had just ate. Then all of a sudden...you guessed it. Spit went down all my neck and onto the hammock. It was one of the most horrible feelings - warm, liquidy - yuck! I handed her over to Hannah who was laughing (good-naturely) and hurried inside to wipe my neck off and change my shirt.

You're probably wondering what the verse has to do with this. I was showing no discretion in lifting Lydia up and down after she had just ate. So I got what I deserved! :)

"Unless the Lord builds the house, they labor in vain who build it; unless the Lord guards the city, the watchman stays awake in vain. It is vain for you to rise up early, to sit up late, to eat the bread of sorrows; for so He gives His beloved sleep. Behold, children are a heritage from the Lord, the fruit of the womb is His reward. Like arrows in the hand of a warrior, so are the children of one's youth. Happy is the man who has his quiver full of them; they shall not be ashamed but shall speak with their enemies in the gate."
Psalm 127

I felt like I should start with scripture. I want to tell you that the purpose of this blog is to keep you updated on what happens in the Wassenberg family and also to glorify Jesus in all that we do and say.
I would like to elaborate on Psalm 127. As a family we memorized the psalm because it stood for so much in our lives. Verse 1 and 2 tell us that it is not worth doing things if the Lord is not with us. Verses 3, 4 & 5 tell us that children are a blessing and not a curse. They are useful for contending with the enemy and more! :)
I'm sorry to post such a short update and I really want to post more but I need to go do some other things. I will try and post daily with a scripture as my heading. I have lots to tell so look forward to some posts soon! Pictures will be included! I (Kimber) will probably be the main "blogger" but my other siblings and parents may post too, so I'm sorry, ahead of time, if some things are repeated!
