A Trip to Lynchburg, VA

"Sing praises to God, sing praises!  Sing praises to our King, sing praises!"
Psalm 47:6

Saturday afternoon Na-naw and Paw-paw came over and picked Hannah, Alexis, and I up.  We were going to Lynchburg, VA to watch my cousin Sarah sing for All-District Choir.  Since we would be getting back late we packed to spend the night at Na-naw and Paw-paw's (a special treat!).  Once we were out of the driveway Paw-paw plugged the portable DVD player in and we watched Fiddler On the Roof.  On the way, we stopped at a Dairy Queen!!  Paw-paw got a turtle pecan blizzard, Na-naw a Heath blizzard, Hannah a mint oreo blizzard and Alexis and I had a cookie dough blizzard.  They were SO yummy!  We hadn't been to D.Q. in forever so we were thankful for the ice cream!

On the way.

We got our shoes on when we were about 10 minutes away.  Sarah was going to be singing at Thomas Road Baptist Church.  Liberty University was surrounding the church in all directions, so we stopped two students and asked them where to go when we got lost (they were all very kind and polite)! :)

Thomas Road Baptist Church

It was absolutely gigantic!!!  I don't think I've ever been in a church so big in my life.  It was absolutely gorgeous with pillars on the outside and marble-looking floors and such on the inside.  The sanctuary was huge, with TV's in the back so you could see the preacher!!  The seats in the sanctuary were like theater seats - very comfortable!  I could've spent at least 30  minutes taking pictures of everything but we were already late so we were hurrying and didn't have time for pictures. :-(

The front.
(I absolutely love the pillars!)

After stopping in the bathroom, which had no soap and no paper towels, we met up with Uncle Mike and my little cousin Rachel.  We then went into the sanctuary.  Aunt Stacey and Kaitlyn were there also and we sat down together in the back row.  (We moved up when Sarah's group sung)

There were two groups of around 50 middle school students singing.  Sarah was in the last group, so we got to enjoy the first group!  (I took very few pictures because I was videotaping most of the time!)

The songs were beautiful and I enjoyed them all!

Soon it was Sarah's turn!  :)

As she sung, we could see Sarah's head but nothing else, since we were on the opposite side of the sanctuary from her.  Oh well! :)

After Sarah's group finished, the mini-concert was over and we waited for her in the hallway:

Sarah was really excited to see us because she didn't know we were coming!  Once we met up, we had to leave quickly since Uncle Mike and Aunt Stacey were already at a Mexican Resturant nearby, but I did manage to get Na-naw to take a picture of all 5 of us girls outside the church:

The sunset and mountains were absolutely gorgeous that night!

After a yummy dinner we said goodbye, hugged everyone and then piled into Na-naw and Paw-paw's Lincoln.  On the way "home," we finished watching Fiddler on the Roof and I slept for a little bit.  We arrived home around 10 that night.  We all crept upstairs, brushed our teeth, etc. and then said goodnight and crawled into Na-naw's wonderfully comfy beds.

Sunday morning Paw-paw made us another of his absolutely delicious breakfasts':  blueberry pancakes, bacon, and cinnamon rolls.  There are few things in life as tasty as Paw-paw's breakfasts' - really.  :)

We watched a little bit of the Karate Kid and the Duggars before leaving for church.

That afternoon, Mr. John ;-), came over and we played some ball, ate some fruits and veggies, and then had our weekly popcorn and movie night.

Today we went out and planted peas, onions, and such in the gardens. Spring is around the corner...

Delighting in Jesus,
Kimber :)
