Josiah's Birthday

Josiah turned 7 last week!  To be more precise, he turned 7 on Election Day.  We had his birthday dinner the Saturday before.

Partners in crime. :)

I think Hannah was feeling spunky. :)  [There's a little view of our *mostly* completed kitchen, for those of you asking.  I may get a better one up soon.  We'll see. :)]

The dinner table.

Josiah chose chicken 'n wine sauce, rice, green beans, and rolls for his birthday meal.  It was delicious as always!

 The big birthday boy!

Does anyone else see a slight resemblance between Judah and Daddy?

I don't know how I missed this, but I forgot to take a picture of the food.  Oops. :)

 Presents came after dinner.

Josiah was very expressive while opening his gifts!
A hug for Lydia, thanking her for the play gun she bought for him.

When I saw Josiah open this blanket from Mama and Daddy, I immediately told him I was going to steal it.  I love it!!  Mama then told me that she had thought about giving it to me for my birthday, but she gave it to Josiah instead.  Since then I've attempted to "borrow" it every now and then.  :)

Let's just say he was very excited to get Kung Fu Panda 2. :)

Grandpa and Grandma gave Josiah a pogo stick which became the new favorite toy in the house!

 Time for cake!!
Josiah definitely won the award for most variety for his ice cream cake.
On one side we had party cake ice cream, golden Oreos, cookie dough ice cream, and then a sprinkling of more golden Oreos.
The other side had mint chocolate chip ice cream, Oreos, plain vanilla ice cream, and then was topped with Andes mints.

The side I had was very good and everyone else said the other side was just as good as well.

We watched half of Kung Fu Panda 2 and then sang Happy Birthday to Josiah.  After he blew out the candles, we dug into the delicious ice cream cake!

--

We had Josiah's birthday breakfast on his actual birthday.

We "woke" him up with our usual birthday serenade and then headed downstairs for breakfast.

Josiah picked Egg McMuffins, hashbrowns, and pop tarts for his birthday breakfast.

The Egg McMuffin was a little bit of a challenge for Josiah to conquer.  :)

Delicious pop tarts...need I say anything else?

After breakfast, we hurried and cleaned up the house.  Then we hopped in the van and took off for the mountains...that post will be coming when I get the time!

Happy (late) birthday, Buddy!  We love you very, very much!

'Siah's 6th Birthday

Sweet, little Josiah turned 6 on November 6th! :)

We did the customary "wake-up birthday song" and Josiah pretended to be asleep the whole time:

After devotions, we ate breakfast!  Josiah wanted to have Egg McMuffins (homemade that is!)...

...hashbrowns

...and berry crisp!

The handsome birthday boy waiting for breakfast! :)

After breakfast, the day went on and we prepared a birthday feast for dinner!

Josiah wanted home made fries, grilled chicken, hot dogs, and rolls.

The candy he picked out was the "Nite Crawlers" a.k.a. sour gummy worms. :)

When everyone was assembled the food was blessed and the eating began!  It was a delicious meal!

I don't remember what Judah was making faces at during the meal, but the photos were too precious not to post. :)

After dinner, 'Siah opened his presents!

Eden got Josiah this coloring book and he loves it!
(Notice his face...I use to think that Daddy and Seth were the master silly-face makers but Josiah is quickly gaining ground. :)

Lexi looks confused...

Uncle Kev, Aunt Mae-Mae, Cadence, Justus, and Asher gave Josiah this mitt and ball.  I know when the weather gets warm again he'll be playing with this a lot!  (Provided he doesn't throw it through a window. :)

Someone (my memory doesn't remember... :) got 'Siah a huge Pixie stick.

The last present of the night required 'Siah to go on a "hot-cold" hunt.  He found the "item" under the sofa in our schoolroom...and I don't think he could've been happier with what he found:
His own bow and arrow! :)

Next came the ice cream cake...and we all sang "Happy Birthday"!

Josiah's ice cream cake had a layer of mint choc. chip ice cream on the bottom, then crushed up Oreos, next came vanilla ice cream, a layer of magic shell and finally, our home made whipped cream decorated with sprinkles!

We watched Spirit as we ate our ice cream and then 'Siah's birthday party was over.  :-(
Kimber :)

P.S. - The below verse gives you an idea of why Daddy and Mama named Josiah, Josiah! :)
"Moreover Josiah put away those who consulted mediums and spiritists, the household gods and idols, all the abominations that were seen in the land of Judah and in Jerusalem, that he might perform the words of the law which were written in the book that Hilkiah the priest found in the house of the LORD."
2 Kings 23:24

Face Paint Fun

Lexi brought Lydia and Josiah into the den a few minutes before dinner with some adorable face paint-do's! :)   They looked so cute and photogenic, that I had to take some pictures!

Introducing...

...'Siah the tiger and Lydia the bunny rabbit! :)

The terrifying tiger!
(By the way, 'Siah went to the doctor today for a leg check-up and the report was good!  His bone is perfectly healed!!!)

The bunny rabbit!!
(Lexi say's sorry for the smeared face-paint...she said she had to redo the teeth 3 times so the last time was in a hurry ;)

Anyways, they were really cute so I thought I'd share with you!
Kimber :)
Sorry - no verse for this post!

GOOD NEWS!!!

"...and He healed them..."
Matthew 21:14b

Josiah got his cast off today!!!  Way to go 'Siah!

Here's a quick picture of him when he returned home from the doctor's:
He looks pretty happy to me! :)

It may be hard to tell (from the picture) that the cast is off but it really is!
We love you 'siah!
Kimber and family

P.S. - Thank you to everyone who prayed for Josiah's leg!  The prayers, I know, were a major part of his healing process! :)

Josiah

"'For I am the LORD who heals you.”'
Exodus 15:26

Well, Josiah is doing so well!  This morning he was moved off the couch for the first time since Saturday night.  He was put into a wonderful little stroller that our friends, the Schermerhorns offered to give us.  It is absolutely wonderful!  Josiah is very comfortable in it and it is perfect for him and his leg in every way!

We've had so many people help out with Josiah.

Paw-paw and Na-naw were a huge help while Josiah was in the hospital.  They provided food, transportation and Paw-paw helped carry the "big stick" in the hospital while Daddy was gone on Saturday.

Grandma and Grandpa let Lydia and Eden stay over at their house last night so that we wouldn't have to worry about them (and they gave us lots of Thanksgiving leftovers).

Aunt Mae-Mae, Uncle Kevin, Cadence, Justus, and Asher stopped by on Saturday night and brought cookies, candy and a balloon (and a really cute card! ;).

So many people at church have asked about Josiah and have been praying for him...we're so blessed to be in this church family!  (I would try and name them all but there are too many to name.)

The Schermerhorns provided lots of fun toys and coloring books (and candy) that have given Josiah hours of fun.

Mrs. Gaston and Annie stopped by this morning and brought him some toys and Mrs. Huizinga and her family are coming over today.

We've also had numerous friends call and say they're praying for him and hope he gets better soon...

A big thank you go everyone who has been praying and thinking of Josiah!  We are so blessed to have you as friends and family! :)

As you can see, Josiah is his perky usual self today! :)
(Thanks to the Gastons for the glasses! ;)

Here you get a better idea of his cast.  It starts right under his ribs and goes all the way down to his toes.

Wednesday, Lord willing, we're planning on going down to see the Whitsons.  We've been planning on visiting them over Thanksgiving for awhile, and thankfully Josiah is doing so well that we'll probably be able to go still!  We just have to figured out how we're going to transport him! :)

Once again, thank you to everyone for all you've done for us!
Kimber and all the Wassenbergs :) :)

P.S. - Judah rolled over from his belly to his back yesterday...for the first time!  He's such a cute little guy! :)

Josiah Is here!

YAYY!! Josiah is here!  He is currently reading a book with paw-paw!  He ate a lot of cheerio's and half a tootsie roll I got him...in a min. he is going to have some noodles.  Keep praying as his leg is still going to be sore and movement will be painful.

THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR ALL YOUR PRAYERS!!

His Princess,
Alexis for the rest

Update on Josiah

Josiah is coming home with his cast on!!!!  They will be here in 15-20 min. Thank you very much  for your prayers!

His Son,
        Caleb

Pray...

for the hospital to let Josiah go tonight.  They thought he was staying another night (not knowing we did not want that to happen) so the nurses are currently checking with the Dr.  Please pray that Josiah is discharged TONIGHT!!!  And as soon as possible...
K :)

Josiah's is Out of the O.R.

Josiah just got out of the Operating Room.  I have no idea why it took around 2 hours to get his cast on...crazy.
The anesthesia hasn't worn off yet, so he's still out of it.  The Operating Doctor (or something like that) is going to come check on Josiah to make sure the anesthia wears off and everything, but he doesn't get off until 5 P.M. so it's more than likely they'll be home late.
The other prayer request is that they won't require Josiah to spend the night again.  Overnight hospital stays are so expensive...

Hannah says the cast is past his bellybutton, so Josiah will definitely have problems moving.  He may even have to get a wheelchair and stuff.  We'll find out more later around 5 P.M. when the doctor comes to visit.

Looking forward to having my family back together again,
Kimber :)

Update on Josiah

Hey everybody...this is Kimber. I just called Hannah and she said that Josiah is currently in the Operating Room.  Mama is with him and Hannah has Judah out in the waiting room.  Paw-paw (my grandpa) is also up at the hospital.
Hopefully they won't have to do a surgery (with pins and such).
Thanks for all the prayers!  Josiah and family will probably be home around dinner time (though you never know with hospitals!!).
Kimber :)

P.S. - Just for a quick fun fact the P.A. (Physician's Assistant) that splinted Josiah's leg last night was in a triathlon in Florida recently.  Out of over 2,000 participants he was the 280th person to reach the end! :)  Kind of amazing.  We've really had some nice staff at St. Mary's.

Update

Mama, Lexi, Seth, and I are headed up to hospital this morning to switch out with daddy who needs to get some work done.  I thought I'd give a little bit more details about this cast: it goes all the way around his waist and down his right leg...it's going to be difficult for him to go to the bathroom, move, or play for about 4-6 weeks (possibly longer)...that means he'll have it for both holidays, Christmas and Thanksgiving.  They have to anastehsia him in order to set the leg and get the cast in place.  Prayers would still be appreciated!  Thank you all and from now on Kimber will be giving updates as needed.
And now here's the verse for today:
"And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose."
Romans 8:28
This verse has been mentioned alot this week and this must've been why!
Have a great Saturday!
In Christ,
Hannah

Josiah Update

Daddy is staying the night at the hospital with Josiah...he's getting a cast on in the morning and hopefully coming home sometime in the afternoon!  He's been a great trouper!  Thank you for all the prayers and support....it's so good to have the body of Christ to lift us up when we're in need!
In Christ,
Hannah

Prayer for Josiah

Well, Josiah's always been the rough guy in the family and poor little thing he's also a tough guy!  Earlier this morning Daddy's trailer gate fell on his right leg....he has fractured his upper femur in his right leg...near the growth plate.  Many prayers would be appreciated for both little Josiah and Mama, Daddy, Kimber, and Judah who are with him.  He's been such a good man!  I'll keep you updated as far as surgery needs, cast, etc.

In Christ,
Hannnah Wass for the rest

Tea Party

"And they sat down to eat a meal."
Genesis 37:25a

Tuesday afternoon Hannah and I (Alexis) decided to do a tea party for the little guys/girls!
We set it up in our (used to be) business room with a table cloth and a jar of flowers.  The menu consisted of the following items: Carrots, Cauliflower, Broccoli, Peppers, Sprouts, Cheese and Crackers, Apple sauce, Garlic bread, Cucumber's in Vinegar, Orange Jello, and Seltzer water with maraschino cherries (and the juice from the can).

The happy tea-partiers
