July 4th

"Now the Lord is the Spirit; and where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is liberty."
2 Corinthians 3:17

Our July 4th consisted of going to church, resting that afternoon, and then going to my grandparents house for dinner!  Dinner consisted of a cookout and homemade ice cream with Golden Oreos: yummy! :)

After dessert, we all headed to Richmond to watch the fireworks at The Diamond.  (Click on the link to find out what The Diamond is.)  We didn't actually watch the fireworks from the stadium, but from a nearby gas station! :)  We set up blankets and chairs on the grassy spot and then waited for the fireworks to begin.

(Sorry about that one red eye...)

Josiah and Allie, my cousin.

About half of the family came to watch the fireworks, along with some friends from church: Mr. Panchision, Mr. Jon, and Ms. Lee! :)

Erika, another cousin.

Alexis and Ms. Lee.

While we were waiting for the fireworks to begin, Daddy cut up a watermelon and we feasted on that! :)
(We arrived at the gas station around 8 PM and the fireworks didn't start until 10ish.)

Banana.
(That's what I call her.)

Our view of The Diamond from an uncle's car.

As you can see in the picture, the lights on the top of the stadium hadn't turned off yet - that meant that the baseball game wasn't over yet, so the fireworks couldn't begin.

Lydia fussing.

Mr. Jon was taking some pictures with my camera and he got one of Lydia fussing! :)

Soon the lights on the stadium went off and fireworks were shooting into the night sky.

This was part of the finale, I think.

As soon as the fireworks were over, we rushed to the cars, said goodbye (very quickly) to everyone and then raced out of the parking lot.  We wanted to beat the traffic that ensued from the hundreds of people leaving after the fireworks.

As far as the fireworks go, I thought they were pretty short and not as spectacular as the years before.  But they were still pretty and it was wonderful getting to spend a day celebrating our independence! :)
