A Whole Bunch of Stuff

Then God said, “Let the earth bring forth the living creature according to its kind: cattle and creeping thing and beast of the earth, each according to its kind”; and it was so.

Genesis 1:24

Last week when I (Alexis) was outside I found a odd looking worm, caterpillar thing! So Kimber and I took some pictures of it-

This is the back end of the Caterpillar- it could be mistaken for the face if I hadn't seen the head on the other end!

Do you see the little head? It is almost as if it is wearing a bull suit!

Last week we went to the Herb Fair at Lavender Fields Farm and enjoyed ourselves very much! Caleb, Seth, Josiah, and Daddy went down to the river to fish and play until it was time for the session they wanted to go to, and Kimber, Mommy, Eden, and I went to the first session we wanted to go to.

Kimber has always wanted a tripod for her Nikon D90 camera to make her pictures and videos even better; And one day when Me (Alexis), Caleb, and Seth were in the attic looking at all of the things that we hadn't seen for a long time, Seth found daddy's old tripod from his video camera! So we brought it downstairs and we found out that it fit Kimber's camera!! Kimber was really happy and thankful to Jesus for it.

Abigail Collins Baby Shower

"For He has strengthened the bars of your gates; He has blessed your children within you."
Psalm 147:13

On Sunday we went to a baby shower for our friends, the Collins.  The baby shower had been planned for a few weeks before but baby arrived before it! :)   Miss Abigail made an appearance even though she was still so tiny - around 4 lbs!!!  She was such a sweet little newborn even though all she did was sleep! :)  Seeing these little babies and pregnant ladies makes me want another little one around the house...(we are praying for that, in case you were wondering :)

Anyways, here are some of the pictures I took made into a collage.

Smoky Is Ours No Longer :(

"...the sparrow has found a home, and the swallow a nest for herself..."

Psalm 84:3

I had the idea to post a "Found" ad on craigslist.org for Smoky, just to see if there was an owner to be found. In less than 4 hours we had about 10-15 emails from people giving us info about African Greys, asking if they could have him if we didn't find the owner, and some more serious inquiries about people who had lost one and wanted some info. As with anything on the Internet, we had to be really careful because African Greys are very expensive and would greatly profit someone who might've deceived us as to him being theirs. :) Thankfully, Mama and Daddy are very aware of that fact and deleted all the emails but the serious ones! :) Anyways, to make a long story short on Sunday we got an email from a lady. She said they had lost theirs in August and that their parrot liked to say "peeper-pooper," which Smoky says a lot (when we're not within eyesight). That gave us a huge hint that these people might be the actual owners. After emailing back and forth, she gave another hint - he liked making a noise that sounded like a telephone. Every one of the descriptions matched and finally, they sent us his band number and it matched. So, we have found Smoky's owner and he is now in his own home. His real name is Ousea (pronounced like wah-so...it's French for bird) and he was born in March 2007 so he was really young.

Since today was our last afternoon with him we took him out and gave him his favorite snack...Cheezits. I'm glad the owners have been found but sad also because we've grown quite attatched to him and don't want him to leave.

Mr. Pabst (the owner) picked up him around 6 PM tonight.

Bye Smoky (a.k.a. Ousea) - we love you!

Spiderwebs

"The spider skillfully grasps with its hands, and it is in kings’ palaces."

Proverbs 30:28

Daddy called me outside after breakfast sometime this week and showed me some beautiful spiderwebs. There was still dew on the webs so it created a beautiful picture! Here are some of the pictures:

A random picture of some buckwheat flowers.

P.S. - Isn't the Lord's design so neat?! How detailed the spider's web is...it didn't happen by chance!

Eden's Birthday Party

"Now a river went out of Eden to water the garden, and from there it parted and became four riverheads."

Genesis 2:10

Eden's birthday is September 29th but we decided to celebrate it a little early so that Grandma and Grandpa could come down. (They had Lexi and Caleb's presents too so it was more like we were celebrating 3 birthdays) Anyway, Eden picked Mexican for her birthday dinner and chocolate cake with Cool Whip icing for dessert.

Grandma and Grandpa arrived around 3:30 (Hannah, Lexi, and I were so glad we didn't have to do our Writing ;) and they brought a dog named Flora with them. They are "fostering" her until someone adopts her (go to http://www.petfinders.com to see her). She is a Maltese (18 months) and is so adorable! After they got settled, we talked and opened the goodies they had brought us. Grandma also fixed a dress for me in a few minutes (it was too broad so I had safety-clips keeping it on) by darting it. What would we do without Grandmas and Grandpas! :)

It was about 10 minutes before dinner when Mama realized that Lydia and Josiah weren't with us. This is what she found:

Lydia and Josiah had found the ashes from our Central Boiler and were playing in them completely unsupervised! There was no one else outside!

So, Mama had to give them a bath even though dinner was almost ready.

Lexi set the table for us and she did a wonderful job (she always does!). She used her creativity and made us some restuarant-style napkins...you know, with the silverware inside.

We're now using the cloth napkins instead of the disposable because they are just another "convenience," that we don't need.

This was Lydia's place setting - pretty cute! :)

Dinner was really good! During dinner the subject of "If you could go anywhere where would you go?" (This was planned from my understanding) Some said a cruise, other the State Fair, and Caleb said Hawaii, etc. and then Alexis said something like "Florida!" Anyways, to make a long story short everyone in our family (Hannah and I knew before) now knows that we are going with Grandpa, Grandma, Uncle Greg, Aunt Amy, Amanda, Diana and Stephen to Disney World, FL in November!! We're really excited about it...we'll be staying in cabins, eating some really good food, riding on rides, and more! We will be leaving October 31st and getting back the Sunday after that (I don't know the dates). We'll be there for about a week.

Back to the present...

After dinner we opened gifts. Eden went first.

Opening a present.

Clothes!!!!

Caleb went after Eden...

Opening a card.

Caleb got a race car track with the cars (remote controlled) and they've already set it up at least 3 different ways in the past few days.

Lexi reading a card.

Clothes!

They opened some more stuff too but I don't remember all of the other things! :)

Daddy was our ice cream maker.

Ever since his 40th birthday party we've used our hand-crank ice cream maker 1-2 times but then we found out that the crank malfunctioned, so we sent it back. So long story short, we used Na-naw and Paw-paw's ice cream maker this time until a new one arrives.

The ice cream is so yummy...it's just the White Mountain Vanilla Ice Cream recipe but it's soooo good!

The three "birthdays" in front of their cake.

P.S. - My Uncle Sean is now engaged to Amanda! He proposed 3 Sundays' ago and they are planning a Fall wedding!

Sunray Display!

"For the earth will be filled with the knowledge of the glory of the LORD, as the waters cover the sea."

Habakkuk 2:14

Yesterday morning there was another absolutely beautiful sunray display in our yard. It was probably one of the best so far. We were doing our family Bible Study with Balancing the Sword when Daddy and Hannah pointed it out to me. I was allowed to go take some pictures and here was what I saw:

Look at the beams!

Shining through the forest.

Isn't it amazing how the sun was right behind this tree showing off its glory?

The other day I was wondering how I knew if God was real...you know like my heart and head knew He was because I feel His presence every day but I wanted proof - if you know what I mean. I was like Thomas, Jesus' disciple, who wouldn't believe until his hands touched where Jesus had the holes from the nails in his hand and feet. I loved Jesus - no doubt about it but I wanted proof and I prayed that Jesus would show me something to give me a peace about knowing He was there and real. The sunrays were the way I saw it. God's hand is so visible in creation. As I stood out in the yard, camera in hand, in awe and amazement at the grandeur before me I was speechless and I heard Jesus gently chiding me saying "Do you believe now?" And I was like "How could I not?!" In front of my eyes was a brilliant display that Jesus planned just for me! Doesn't that make you love Him more and more?! Daddy has told me that asking questions about what you believe (a.k.a struggling) is not bad because I need to figure out what I believe and why otherwise I'm like a house on the sand. Jesus is always there to answer my questions, all I have to do is talk/pray to Him or read His Word and the answer to my question is always right in front of me. Oh, I just love Jesus! He never gets angry at me but is always beside me, holding my hand and giving me strength when I need it or a smile when I look in His face, and the list goes on and on! Jesus' hand is everywhere - words cannot, and never will, be able to express the love He sheds on us. (And words cannot express how much I love Him!)

All for Jesus,

Kimber

Picnic at Lavender Fields Herb Farm

"And they continued steadfastly in the apostles’ doctrine and fellowship, in the breaking of bread, and in prayers."

Acts 2:42

Last Friday we went to Lavender Fields Farm for a picnic with the Schermerhorns' and the Mercers' (friends from church). We arrived right on time and after touring their herb farm we went down to the picnic area. The scenery surrounding their farm and river are some of the most beautiful I've ever seen.

Caleb eating his lunch.

Ellen Schermerhorn eating a banana.

For lunch we just had the normal snackies...everything was yummy!

Caleb caught a fish!

Since Caleb loves fishing he had to bring his rod, reel, and bait with him! He did catch quite a few fish.

Playing in the sand.

The children loved getting all sandy and wet!

Isn't the landscape so amazing?

Digging in the sand.

I really cannot stop talking about how beautiful this place is!

Lexi and Seth.

The water was a bit cold but once you got used to it it really wasn't that bad.

It was a beautiful day (an answer to prayer) - perfect for a picnic!

Caleb and a bass.

Caleb did catch a bass big enough for us to eat (though we were not prepared to bring a fish home), so after much persuading he convinced Mommy that it was okay to bring it home.

Some leaves.

I love Fall (my favorite season of all), because it is just so beautiful outside and it is slowly getting cooler and not hotter! :)

Climbing on the rocks.

Taking a fish off the hook.

While some of the children played the adults and Hannah (sometimes with me...when I wasn't taking pictures) would just sit and talk. It was such a wonderful time of fellowship!

So pretty!

We left around 3 in the afternoon. Lydia was starting to get cranky and Eden and Josiah had not had their naps. We arrived home safe and sound with several different gifts from them like basil vinegar, butterfly bushes, etc. It was a wonderful way to spend a day!

All for Jesus,

Kimber
