Lydia's 4th Birthday

Lydia turned 4 this past Monday!  She got to have her birthday dinner one day early though.  Grandpa and Grandma were able to come visit us so we wanted to celebrate Lydia's birthday with them.  

After we got home from church, Daddy started cooking the chicken and hot dogs out on the grill.  We ate dinner mid-afternoon and it was yummy!

(If you didn't notice by the above picture, Lydia had a fever that day, so she wasn't feeling the greatest.)

Hannah made my Aunt Megan's mac 'n cheese recipe...taste this stuff and you'll never want to go back to the boxed ever again!

All in all, dinner was delicious!

Lydia went and laid in our bean bag after she had eaten a little bit...feverish birthday girls get special privileges. :)

Lydia also received some yummy snacks and a princess kit that contained lotion, lip gloss, and the like. :)

Lydia wanted a princess cake with pink frosting.   So, we made her a devil's food cake in a heart-shaped pan, frosted it with strawberry icing, and stuck a Polly Pocket in the top as a princess. :)

(The "princess" makes it look like she's turning 41, doesn't it? :)

After the candles were blown out, we proceeded to eat all of the cake. :)

We ate too much cake, so we decided to go down to the horse farm to walk it off...and to pet the horses. :)

So, I know I've told you that I'm working at this horse farm.  Well, this horse is the one I've been helping break and have the privilege of riding whenever I want.  Her name is Sassy.

These are two yearlings (one year olds) at the farm...the one in the back is Rosie and Romeo's in the front.  They're both pretty cute! :)

Once back at home, we talked with Grandpa and Grandma some more, enjoying their humorous fellowship. :)

We closed out the night with freshly popped popcorn and Bolt (per Lydia's pick).

The next morning, on Lydia's actual birthday, we had her special breakfast!

Lydia was feeling much better on her actual birthday. :)

 Lydia's special breakfast consisted of cereal, scrambled eggs, cinnamon toast (pictured above) and pop tarts.  The pop tarts were the biggest hit. :)

Lydia update!!

Lydia's surgery was at 7 o'clock this morning.  I just heard from daddy and he said the operation went really well.  She's already awake and has enjoyed 1/2 a popsicle and some water.  She'll be in the outpatient office at the hospital for 2-4 more hours just for observation and to make sure she can eat and drink fairly well.  Thank you all so much for your prayers and support...it means a lot!

Prayer Request for Lydia

Last Fall, Mama noticed that Lydia had started snoring when she slept.  Thinking it was odd but nothing extremely dangerous, she just kept a careful watch of her.  Lydia's snoring kept getting louder and whenever she slept her head would be tilted as far back as she could get it.  After months of observing her, we took Lydia to the doctor who said Lydia's tonsils and adenoids were extremely large and they would probably need to come out.  We like to think that every organ is in our body for a reason...and that we shouldn't cut them out at the first sign of something wrong.  SO, Mama and Daddy kept thinking about whether or not to get the surgery.  They spent many late nights researching, researching, and researching some more!  They went to 3 doctors (altogether) and the last doctor said that on a size rate of 1-4, Lydia's tonsils and adenoids were a 3.75!!  She often sounds like she's out of breath, and every now and then she cries when she eats, saying "it hurts".  Long story short, Lydia is having a tonsillectomy Friday morning.  Lydia has really bad sleep apniea...Mama and Daddy say it's a hard to watch her try and breathe as she sleeps.  They've looked at every alternative to a tonsillectomy and finally decided to get one done so Lydia can sleep at night, breathe normally, etc.

So, this post was just a request for our Brothers and Sister in Christ to lift up Lydia in their prayers Friday morning.  We also have Bread Becker Pick-Up at our house that night so prayers for those at home to get everything cooked, organized, and ready for our friends would be appreciated also! :)

We'd love for Lydia to come home as soon as possible after the surgery (once she is stabilized) so prayers for a quick recovery would also be wonderful! 
And I'll add one more specific prayer request for Lydia:  pray that she'll adjust easily to eating liquid food for a few days (weeks?) and that the cuts will hurt her as little as possible.

Everyday Life: Evenings at Our House

With the weather being so nice lately we've been spending more and more time outside! :)  Last night was no exception!  We love the coolness of evening!  

Needless to say, I got my camera and took it outside with me.  Judah was just being too cute (an everyday problem ;) and I couldn't help not to take pictures of him! 

I ended up taking a few pictures of some of my other siblings too.  (Judah definitely dominated the majority of my photos though!)  Quite often I think that I should spend more time taking photos of the "older ones" but I just can't!  Babies grow up way too fast and I've got to capture all his little milestones and smiles! :)  

So here you have some pictures of an evening at our house!!

I have told you that I have a slight obsession with baby feet and hands...here's more proof! :)

I had to get Hannah to come talk to Judah so I could get these pictures.  I think he's scared of my camera, so when it's just me and him...and I've got my camera...he looks like he's scared to death.  That doesn't make the best photos so I get a sibling to come distract him for me! :)

Okay, I have an obsession for anything baby!! :)

As Judah was swinging the majority of my siblings were jumping over a rope on one of our trampolines.  They were jumping and smiling like crazy! :)

On the crawl...

After I felt like I had taken enough pictures I went inside and put my camera up.  A little while later I went back outside and folded some clothes that were hanging on the clothesline while I watched my family work and play: Daddy and Mommy were tending to our potato plants, siblings ran up and down the rows racing each other and the sky was bathed in vibrant red and pink hues.  

It was such a peaceful scene.

As I watched everything and hummed "All for Jesus" gratefulness overflowed my heart.  

I am so blessed!
