Judah Update

"And she conceived again and bore a son, and said, “Now I will praise the LORD.” Therefore she called his name Judah..."
Genesis 29:35

Well, I thought it was about time to update all of you on little Judah!

Here are some pictures and some updates:

Na-naw holding Judah the morning he was born.

 Hannah and Judah.

Judah and I (Hannah chopped off my head in this picture...but in her defense I wasn't cooperating! :)

Lexi and Judah.

When Mama went into hard labor Tuesday morning Lexi was away at Na-naw's house, for her birthday shopping.  Lexi had planned on being at the birth, but Mama went so fast that Lexi and Na-naw showed up around 30 minutes after Judah arrived.  Lex was really disappointed but now she's enjoying Judah as much as she can!

I must admit, that I do not have a picture of Caleb holding Judah.  I'm sorry - maybe one day I'll get a picture of him and Judah! :)

Seth with Judah.

I've been shocked at how much Seth loves to hold Judah.  He's constantly asking!  He'll definitely be a great Daddy one day...he just loves Judah to death! :)  (We all do!)

Weedels and Judah.

Once again, I do not have a picture of Judah and Josiah...I think Josiah's only held him twice.

Lydia and Judah.

Lydia had some help "holding" Judah because, of course, when she would be done holding him she'd probably throw him away like a baby doll.  But, in her defense, she loves Judah so much!  She's always asking about "baby" and "I brush baby hair," etc.  She's a great big sister!

Judah was given his first "bath" on the day he was born!  He slept through practically the whole thing, though he didn't like being cleaned with a washcloth! :)

Hannah was the one who got to give Judah his first bath.  She did great!
(Lexi also helped and I...well...took pictures!)

Daddy and Judah sleeping.

I think that we have a picture of Daddy sleeping with every baby!

Isn't he so precious?

Before Mama had Judah, everybody guessed what day they thought "baby" would arrive on.  Josiah picked September 5th, and we all thought he was crazy because he picked such a "late" date (after all Mama *always* goes early).  Well, 'Siah proved us all wrong!  He was the closest guess to Judah's actual birthdate!  So, as a prize, he got a huge peppermint patty.  As you can tell, he's excited about that! :)

Later Tuesday night, we celebrated Judah's birth by lighting some candles and singing Happy Birthday to him.  Hannah, Alexis, and I had made up this cake a few days before in preparation for his birth.  For every home-birth Mama has had we've started a tradition of baking a cake on the baby's birth-day to celebrate his/her arrival!  :)

Judah was a bit more interested in sleeping than in a cake. :)

Later that night, Mr. Jon came over and held Judah too!

Mama has been staying in "the girls room" ever sine Judah arrived.  She and Daddy have been sleeping in our room, and us 3 girls (Hannah, Alexis, and myself) have slept in their room.
We've also been eating every meal up in our room too, so we can be with Mama.  (Plus, it's always fun eating somewhere other than the norm! ;)

Caleb relaxing in our room.

Judah puckering up his lips! :)

There!  A picture of Judah with his eyes *slightly* open! :)  He's also has that Buddha-belly look! :)

Lexi's birthday was on Wednesday (September 8th), so we celebrated her birthday a day after Judah's!

And, just for a fun fact, Caleb's birthday is the 9th of September, so we have 3 birthday in a row!  (The 7th, 8th, and 9th!)

Lexi had Farmer's Crepes, Toaster Strudels, and O.J. for breakfast!  It was very yummy!

Lexi icing her toaster strudel.

We've been *slightly* distracted with Judah's arrival so we're celebrating Caleb and Lexi's birthday tonight and tomorrow night.

After breakfast Wednesday morning Aunt Mae-Mae came over to see Judah.  Mae-Mae had just had her own baby exactly a week before!  She had a boy and they named him Asher Micaiah and he is 1 lb. smaller than Judah!  :)  In the picture above Judah is on the left, and Asher is on the right.

For another fun fact, we now have 2 of the tribes of Israel....Asher and Judah...only 10 more to go! :)

Wednesday afternoon Grandma, Grandpa, and Mr. and Mrs. Cook came to visit, we love visitors!
Grandma and Grandpa brought dinner - hot dogs, hamburgers, and mac 'n cheese.  Thanks Grandpa and Grandma!

Mrs. Cook and Judah.

Mr. and Mrs. Cook became friends with Grandpa and Grandpa when they were living in Guantanamo Bay, Cuba.  (Grandpa was in the Navy.  Daddy and Uncle Greg were only around 8-12 years old.).  The Cooks now live in Florida, but they were on their way to visit Grandpa and Grandma the day after Judah was born.  So they stopped by Wednesday afternoon and it was so nice to see them (I hadn't seen them in forever!).

Lexi opened one of her birthday presents on Wednesday, since Grandma brought her birthday cake.

(We are celebrating Lexi's birthday with friends and family at Lavender Fields on September 18th.)

Caleb reading his birthday card a day early.

Grandma lighting Lexi's birthday cake.

Lexi's birthday cake was angel food cake, strawberries, Cool Whip, and strawberry juice.  It was yummy!

Lexi and the huge birthday cake!
Blow, Lexi, blow!

Before we ate Lexi's cake most of us went on a walk to our neighboring horse farm.  Ms. Tara was there, so we got to see all of her horses!  They were so beautiful!  :)

Grandpa and Grandma, Mr. and Mrs. Cook left later that night.

On Thursday, our neighbor (and Mr. Jon bearing dinner) came over to see Judah and today the Nice's came over!  :)

But back to a few more pictures:

I absolutely love how perfectly designed babies hands and feet are.  They are so tiny, and yet, so perfect! :)

Yes, I am enjoying my micro lens! :)

And the last picture for this post! :)

So there was a quick update!

Pictures of Judah!!!

I know some of you want to see pictures of Judah, so here are 3!  He is the most precious little thing and is currently sleeping.  Mama's doing great - I'm so proud of her!  Hannah and I (Kimber) saw the last 20 minutes (or so) of labor.  (I'm hoping that Mama passes some of those quick-labor genes onto me!  ;)

Okay, enough talking, here are the pictures!

Judah after getting weighed.  He was huge!  10 lbs exactly!!!

This is not his happy face.

I quickly edited this picture on Photoshop and now, when I look at this picture and the one above it, it's really pale.  Oh well!  He's still precious!

"By You I have been upheld from birth;  You are He who took me out of my mother’s womb. My praise shall be continually of You."
Psalm 71:6

"As you do not know what is the way of the wind, Or how the bones grow in the womb of her who is with child, So you do not know the works of God who makes everything."
Ecclesiastes 11:5

BABY'S HERE!!!!!

Baby JUDAH ZION WASSENBERG was born about 5:50 a.m.  Mama delivered without the midwife it went so fast!!!  Baby is 10 lbs. 21 inches and nursing like a pro!  More details and hopefully pictures should be coming soon!

Guess What???

"Delight yourself also in the LORD, and He shall give you the desires of your heart."
Psalm 37:4

Ever since I mentioned getting a macro lens on a previous post, I've been thinking about it ever since.  I've researched Nikon's macro lenses and prayed about buying one.

Well, if you haven't guessed already, today Daddy took me to Ritz Camera and I brought home the 60mm 2.8 macro lens!!!  After purchasing the lens and getting in the car, I did tear up...in case you were wondering!  :)  Daddy then took me to Lewis Ginter and we took some pictures around the building (we didn't pay the $10 to walk through the garden).  Needless to say, I'm excited about it and can't wait for baby to get here so I can practice on him/her!

Until then, enjoy a few of my most random pictures with my new macro lens!!  (I'll post more on my photography blog, too - unless baby comes tonight! :) No comment on this picture:

I don't know if I've mentioned this before, but I'm still having problems with Blogger.  I'll confuse you greatly if I relate to you my difficulties, so just pray for me! :)  Has anybody else been having any problems with blogger, lately?

I know some of you are dying to know about Mama.  Here's a quick update! :-)

Mama's due date was August 27th and, evidently, baby is way too comfy to want to emerge.  This is the first baby that has been overdue!!  We're all so excited to see little ones whenever they decide to make their appearance!
We gave Mama massages today...along with painting her nails and playing with her hair (she loves when someone runs their fingers through her hair...she literally falls asleep!).  It was so much fun to give Mama a little "special treatment" since she rarely sits still long enough for us to do anything.  (Another benefit of pregnancy.  ;)

On another note, Lydia decided to get into the fingernail polish today.  And not just any fingernail polish.  The teal blue fingernail polish.  I walk in our room (whenever it's quiet and Lydia's gone...it's normally not a good thing!) and I immediately smell fingernail polish.  I look over to our mirror and see Lydia sitting on the bench with that guilty look on her face.  I walk over and she has the polish all over her legs, on our white carpet (that I was proud of because it was stain-free ;) and the polish is laying sideways, pouring out into one of our drawers.  Yeah.  So, Lydia was toted downstairs to Mama.  That is a definite "no-no" and she knows it!  Then I set to cleaning the polish out of our carpet.  Nothing worked; I tried Gojo, OxyClean, warm water with soap and even nail polish remover!  Yes, I was desperate, but to no avail.  Oh well! :)

I don't think there's anything else to report...so goodnight! :)

Moms Day "Home Alone"

"...and she was left..."
Ruth 1:3

Last Wednesday morning Daddy announced that he would be staying home for half of the day.  I then suggested that he take us all "out" so Mama could get some time alone to work on our next year's school schedule.  Daddy liked the idea, so after cleaning up breakfast, doing our chores, etc. we left the house!  The first place we went was Ritz Camera!  I was so excited!  While I was there I got to try out the 60mm and 85mm macro lenses!!!  And I learned so much from the guy helping us out...I'm really excited about all he taught me.  I could've stayed and listened to him for hours. :)  Just for fun, I also tried out the 10.5 fisheye lens and a lens that went up to 600mm.  All of you who are familiar with cameras know what I'm talking about, but if you don't, 600mm is very close-up!  The human eye sees at about 50mm, so 600mm is like 14 times greater magnification than our eyes!

I must add, before showing you the pictures, that Hannah and everyone else did a great job keeping the little ones under control as Daddy and I talked to the camera man (his name was David).  I know that had to be hard!

[On another note, I can't end this post like I normally do because blogger is giving me trouble...so, just know that we had a wonderful day and that Mama finished our next school schedule!]

This was with the fisheye lens.  Hannah didn't want to be a model, thus the hand! :)

And, of course, I had to give you the picture of Daddy last because it's the funniest out of all of them! :)

Lexi...my model.  She always is willing for me to experiment on her!
See what I mean?

Caleb smiling for me!!!

After Ritz Camera, Daddy took us to Trader Joe's and we bought some food.  Then we went to Chuck E. Cheese's!   As you can tell, Seth was excited to be there! :)
Seth and Lydia riding Arctic Adventure.

Lydia doesn't look excited. :)

Fun, fun!

Pizza! :)  Delighting in Jesus,
